We have recently completed an Altro safety flooring project for Bath rugby at their training facilities which are located at Farleigh House.
On arrival for the site visit, we were quickly made aware of the previous flooring which had failed. Once we inspected the subfloor it was clear that the latex smoothing compound hadn’t been primed prior to installation causing it to fail. It had been wrongly installed by another flooring contractor as standards hadn’t been met.
Preparation
Now that we had found the cause it would be a simple fix to get the safety flooring replaced. Firstly we uplifted the old safety flooring, then we uplifted and disposed of the failed latex compound. Taking it back to the subfloor ready to start again following the Ardex specification. We primed the subfloor using Ardex primer, having spoken with the Ardex rep we then used Ardex NA latex to cover the floor.
Fitting
Having tested the latex for moisture, that being dry and sound. We were ready to start the Altro safety flooring. Due to the areas being wet rooms we had to install with the cap and cove formula supplied by Quantum Flooring Solutions. Once the cap and cove was installed the Altro was then installed and welded on the joins. Completion! We had to finish the project in a quick turn around, working long hard days just in time for the start of pre season training for Bath rugby. The estate manager was extremely pleased with the works and how professional The Floor Smith Ltd had dealt with this project from start to finish.
